Dropped mine off the kayak into about four feet of water. Floated straight up, grabbed it, still working perfectly. IP67 rating is legit. Range in hilly terrain is more like 2 miles honestly, but in open country it's impressive. NOAA alerts are a nice bonus for camping trips.
