How to Program MMSI and Use DSC on the Cobra MRF77 GPS
Enter the radio's DSC setup menu, input your 9-digit MMSI number (register free at the NOAA/USCG MMSI site), and save. With MMSI programmed and GPS locked, a press-and-hold of the DSC distress button sends a digital mayday with your position to all DSC-equipped vessels and shore stations on channel 70.
How to Send a DSC Distress Call
Open the distress button cover, press and hold until the alert activates. The radio transmits your MMSI and GPS position automatically. For non-emergency DSC calls, select a contact's MMSI from the directory and initiate individual, group, or all-ships calls.
Connecting to a Chart Plotter via NMEA 0183
