The Cobra AA Battery Tray (item #CM 110-024) is the optional battery tray that powers MR HH350, HH450, and HH500 floating handheld VHF radios with standard AA batteries. It's the best fit for boaters who want a disposable-battery backup when the rechargeable LiON pack runs dry offshore. Buy online now for $10.00, 33% below the $14.95 compare-at price, with coupon code OUTPOST12 for extra savings.
Your HH-series radio floats with the lithium-ion pack installed, but this AA tray does not float — a radio running AA batteries will sink if dropped overboard. Secure the radio with a lanyard when using the tray.
Open the rear battery compartment, swap the LiON pack for the AA tray, and insert fresh AA cells following polarity markings. Keep it as an emergency backup in the ditch bag.
At $10.00 versus $14.95, this is a 33% discount on the original Cobra part. Stack the OUTPOST12 coupon promotion at checkout, and bundle with a replacement battery or antenna to pass $45 for free shipping.
Versus carrying a spare rechargeable pack, the AA tray uses batteries available at any marina or gas station — a trade of float capability for universal availability. Choose the LiON pack for daily use and this tray for emergencies.

Cobra MR HH350, MR HH450, and MR HH500 floating handheld VHF radios.
The tray is an original Cobra part that maintains the radio's battery compartment seal; however, the radio will not float with AAs installed.

Every boater should have one of these. When your lithium pack dies offshore, being able to drop in fresh AAs from any gas station is a lifesaver. Fits my HH350 perfectly and powers the radio just like the rechargeable pack does. Cheap insurance, plain and simple.
Works fine in my HH450. Only note is it does not float, so keep an eye on it. Good backup to have aboard.
Six AAs and my radio runs all day. Perfect for emergencies.
The tray is well made and clicks in securely. Just be aware that alkaline AAs drain faster than the lithium pack under transmit. I keep rechargeable AAs in it instead. Still worth owning.
Lost my original tray on a trip and this replacement is identical. Snug fit, solid contacts, radio floats fine with it installed as long as you use the right battery count.
Bought it for hurricane season preparedness. The latch feels a bit flimsy but it has held up fine. AAs are everywhere which is the whole point.
I fish a lot of remote areas where charging isn't an option. This tray means my radio never goes dead. Contacts are clean, no corrosion after a season of salt air. Cheap and effective.
Functions fine and powers my HH500 without issue. Just remember the product page warning: with the tray installed it will sink. Don't drop it overboard like I almost did.
Keeps in the console as backup. Inserted batteries, radio powered right up. No complaints.
First season in the boat locker and the contacts already show rust spots despite keeping it dry. Works for now but I'm not confident long term.
