Been running this on my fishing boat for two seasons now with zero issues. The compensation diode helps, but you still lose a few tenths of a volt compared to a relay setup, so plan your charging accordingly. Build quality is excellent, terminals are solid, and it has never overheated even on long runs. For the price it is a set-and-forget solution.
