The Victron Energy GX GSM is a cellular modem and GPS accessory that gives Victron GX monitoring products mobile internet connectivity and a direct link to the VRM Portal. Ideal for off-grid cabins, boats, and remote installations without wired internet, it's currently $84.30 – 57% off the $198.00 compare-at price. Buy online, apply coupon OUTPOST12 for an extra 12% off, and get free shipping on orders over $45.
The GX GSM operates on 2G and 3G networks. Because carriers worldwide have been sunset-ing these networks, verify your local carrier still provides 2G/3G coverage before purchase. In regions where 2G/3G remains active, the GX GSM continues to function fully; where networks are retired, consider a Victron LTE-M or Ethernet/Wi-Fi-connected GX solution instead.
The 900/2100 MHz variant was designed primarily for European and international 2G/3G bands. US buyers should confirm carrier band support – many US networks no longer support these frequencies – and choose accordingly.
Plug the GX GSM into a USB port on your Cerbo GX (or other GX device), insert an active SIM card, and configure the connection in the GX unit's settings menu. Once online, your system reports to the VRM Portal for remote monitoring; with the optional GPS antenna installed, you can track and geo-fence the system.
Remote VRM monitoring for off-grid homes, vessel tracking and geo-fencing, and backup connectivity for GX systems when local internet fails.
At $84.30 – a 57% discount off $198.00 – this is the affordable way to add remote monitoring. Coupon OUTPOST12 saves 12% more; orders over $45 ship free.

It works wherever 2G/3G networks remain active. Since many carriers have sunset these networks, confirm local coverage before buying; otherwise consider Victron's LTE-M modem.
The 900/2100 MHz bands target European/international networks; many US carriers no longer support them. Verify with your carrier, or choose an LTE-M alternative for US deployments.
Plug it into a USB port on the Cerbo GX, insert an active SIM, and configure the mobile connection in the GX settings – your system then reports to the VRM Portal.

My off-grid cabin has no internet so this modem was the missing link. Plugged it into my Cerbo GX, put a data SIM in, and VRM Portal has been streaming data ever since. GPS location is a nice bonus for tracking my system's records. Setup took ten minutes including the APN configuration. Being able to check battery state from town is worth every penny.
Connects my GX device to VRM reliably over 3G in my rural area. Setup was straightforward once I got the right APN settings from my carrier. Just note that 2G/3G is being phased out in some regions — check your carrier's roadmap before buying. Otherwise a solid, set-and-forget device.
Plugged in a prepaid SIM, configured it over the local network, done. VRM updates every few minutes without fail.
The modem does what it promises but my site has marginal cell coverage, so I get occasional VRM dropouts that last hours. When it connects, data flow is smooth and the GPS works fine. If you have solid signal at your install location this would easily be a five-star device. Mine just barely does.
I service several remote solar sites and this modem lets me monitor all of them through VRM without site visits. Alarms come through to my phone when something needs attention, which has already saved a client's battery bank once. The built-in GPS means every site is geotagged automatically. Reliable, low power draw, and dead simple to configure.
Installed it on my Cerbo GX six months ago and honestly haven't touched it since. VRM connection has been stable and the power draw is negligible on my battery budget. Wish the included antenna had a longer cable for better placement. Happy overall.
I'm not a tech person at 71 and I still managed the whole setup myself with the manual's help. Checking my solar production on my phone from the house feels like magic. Hasn't dropped connection once in four months. Very pleased with this little box.
